My Hawk and Sharon

So my Hawk has come back. I went for a brisk walk in the cool air on Monday and there was my Hawk- eating "something". I was able to get pretty close and then a car came by and she flew away.

Today I met someone who reminded me why I do what I do and why I am right where I am supposed to be, right now. To connect people, to listen and to nourish bodies and souls.

Thank you, Sharon, for sending her to me and for the many, many reminders you send my way. I miss you, but you show up all the time- mostly when I pay attention.

MOTIVATION

Recently a friend asked me WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?. My head wasn't in that space at the time, so here is my almost well-thought list.

What motivates me? I'll add some WHOS to the list.

Myself. My husband. My kids. My health. Creating beautiful food that tastes beautiful. My parents. My in-laws. Friends. My measure of success, which I find in small things all day long. Watching my kids treat people well and respectfully. A good and hot cup of coffee. Those that are less fortunate than me. The Sunday Sermon. Yoga. A walk outside. My Friends-again. I feel shallow saying money, but it's an honest response. I have kids to feed and a house to repair. Money. There. I said it. The ability to share my money with those who need it more than me. People who believe in me- especially at times when I don't believe in myself as much as they do. Strangers who tell me what the food I prepared has done for them or how it has made them feel. Good parenting. Talented people using their given skills to help others. Music. Creativity. Artwork. Single sentences that bring me back into perspective. Feeling under the weather. I suppose the list could go on and on, so I'll come back later and update it.
